Diaclone colors for the win!
Series: Age of the Primes
Year: 2025
Allegiance: Autobots
Class: Deluxe Store Exclusive

Prelude: Three years ago Hasbro reissued Twin Twist in Diaclone colors and everyone was sure that a similarly-colored Topspin was just a matter of time. Well, he was, but that time would end up being three years. Finally, though, Diaclone-colored Topspin has arrived as part of the Wreck ‘n Doom collection in the Age of the Primes line. Better late than never, I guess. Let’s say go!

Robot Mode: Topspin is a straight-up repaint of Titans Return Topspin, who is a retool of Titans Return Twin Twist, who was repainted into Legacy Twin Twist, all three of whom I have previously reviewed, the latter just a few months ago. So this review here will focus mostly on the differences.

Topspin here is the same excellent Deluxe figure that his Titans Return version was, just with a color swap. What was blue is now a dark red, what was white is now a dark blue, and the milky white thighs are now a shiny silver. That’s pretty much it. Instead of a red Autobot symbol he now carries the turquois Wreckers symbol on his torso and his guns are a darker grey than before. Some yellow highlights round out the new paintjob and it’s looking fabulous. These colors were inspired by one of several pre-Transformers versions of the Diaclone toy that would become Topspin.

And, yeah, that’s pretty much it. Still an excellent figure with an awesome new paintjob. Nothing else I can think of to write here.

Alternate Mode: Topspin still transforms into a science fiction style jet, no changes here except the colors, either.

Partner: Being a repaint of a Titans Return figure, Topspin is still a Headmaster, meaning his head detaches and becomes the Titan Master Freezeout. Freezeout has the same color swap as his bigger partner, now being red and blue instead of blue and white. No other changes and he can still sit inside the combined guns of the bigger robot if you so want.

Remarks: I waited a long time for this figure, three years as mentioned above, and am very happy it’s finally here. That said, I don’t really have that much to say about it, given that I have reviewed this mold several times before. So enjoy the pictures and know that his reviewer here is feeling pretty old, given that he was around when the original pre-Transformers Jumpstarters were around in Europe. I’m gonna lie down. As for the figure: brilliant, looking cool, get it if you can.

Many thanks to my buddy Reyjin, who split the boxset this figure came in with me.
