Now omnipotent AND poseable.
Series: Masters of the Universe Origins
Year: 2020

Prelude: Zodac (with a ‘c’, very important) was there right from the start of Masters of the Universe and has received lots of different figures over the years. For Origins, his original 1982 figure is remade with better articulation for a new generation of kids. So prepare to ride the space ways with the Cosmis Enforcer and keep wondering why no version of him has yet received his flying throne. Let’s say go!

Review: The original Zodac figure was a pretty standard Masters figure in that it had a removable chest harness and a weapon. Despite appearing human, he had the clawed feet usually reserved for the bad guys and he was also the first Masters figure to come with a firearm instead of a medieval weapon.

His Origins incarnation keeps all that and adds lots of extra articulation to it. Knees, feet, elbows, wrists, everything works now. Like all Origins figures, you can pretty much take Zodac apart and swap parts with other Origins figures.

And that’s pretty much it. Like most of the Origins line, Zodac is pretty much as he was back in 1982, but now you can actually pose him instead of having to use your imagination for it.

Remarks: Zodac remains one of the most mysterious characters in the franchise. We have never seen his face (just that of Zodak with a ‘k’ at the end), Mattel has yet to release his flying cosmic throne, and he remains one of my favorites, too. Not revolutionary as an action figure, of course, but a great new version of a beloved childhood toy.
