Series: Masters of the Universe
Year: 1982
Remarks: Zodac is one of my favorite MotU characters, mostly for being a total mystery, both on and off the screen and comic book pages. He was part of the very first wave of Masters toys in 1982, but did not appear in any of the pack-in comics and no one was quite sure whether he belonged to the good guys or the bad. Some packaging variants named him "Evil Cosmic Enforcer", but overall he was simply a mystery. It wasn't until DC Comics got the license in late 1982 that he was refined as something of a neutral character, who usually did not interfere... well, except for all the times he did. The Filmation cartoon more or less stayed with that definition of him, treating him as mostly neutral.
The original Zodac figure was a pretty standard Masters figure in that it had a removable chest harness and a weapon. Despite appearing human, he had the clawed feet usually reserved for the bad guys and he was also the first Masters figure to come with a firearm instead of a medieval weapon.
While we still haven't seen Zodac without his helmet on (do not confused him with Zodak from the 200X series who did take off his helmet now and then), he has reappeared several times since then as part of an entire corps of Cosmic Enforcers. Bottom line: I like the character and his somewhat weird design.
