Omnipotent, but carries a gun.
Series: Masters of the Universe Masterverse - New Eternia
Year: 2022

Few are more powerful than the omnipotent master of the cosmos, Zodac. As the keeper of the neutral balance between good and evil, the Cosmic Enforcer's universal travels return him to Eternia - home of Castle Grayskull, the Nexus of Realities, and the center of the multiverse. For a threat to the cosmic balance can come from anywhere, at any time.

Prelude: Get ready to ride the space ways with the Cosmic Enforcer, the enigmatic, helmet-rocking, floating-chair-cruising, gun-slinging protector of the universal balance. It’s the Z-man himself, Zodac (with a “C” at the end, that’s important!), now returned in his New Eternia incarnation. Let’s say go!

Figure: New Eternia Zodac is largely based on the original Vintage Zodac toy, just scaled up to the larger Masterverse scale. He’s got the familiar helmet, the red chest harness with the white trident on it, the grey furry pants, the grey claw feet, and those whatever-they-are on his forearms that look like tiny fins. He’s also got chest hair or possibly chest feathers, I was never quite sure about that, to be honest.

Some things have changed, though. Zodac carries the same weirdly shaped gun as always, but now he has a holster for it, strapped to his right thigh. The holster is such that the gun snaps into it when pushed in from the side, and his arm articulation is good enough that the figure can actually draw the gun. Very nice. Additionally, though, he has the staff weapon that was carried by Zodak in the 200X cartoon. The staff can be wielded two-handed and also split into two smaller staffs (I think the term is Escrima sticks). Also, Zodac now has shoulder pads for the first time. These are separate pieces, attached to clips on the back of the chest harness, and can swivel back or be removed. When removed, the clips can be used to hold the two halves of the staff in place.

As is tradition for pretty much every (male) MotU figure, the chest harness can be removed to leave the figure bare-chested. The holster is a separate piece, but looped into the lower strap of the harness. The helmet, of course, cannot be removed, as we have never seen Zodac’s real face. We only see his mouth, which – to be honest – could be a bit more pronounced. That’s pretty much my only complaint, though. Otherwise, an excellent figure, looking very much like vintage Zodac, but with several nice improvements.

Remarks: Zodac, the Cosmic Enforcer, was a favorite of mine as far back as I can remember. He was mysterious, he was staggeringly powerful, and no one really knew what he was up to apart from some vague hints about keeping the cosmic balance. The 2002 He-Man cartoon fleshed him out quite a bit more, but that version of Zodac (called Zodak) has since been determined to be a separate character. The original Zodac remains as enigmatic as ever, last seen heading an entire corps of Cosmic Enforcers at the end of the Netflix Revolution series and recruiting a reformed Evil-Lyn (Good-Lyn? Cosmic-Lyn?) for his band of merry space cops (who sat around on their flying thrones, doing nothing while He-Man and Teela kept the universe from being destroyed).

Side note: why has no Zodac figure so far ever included his flying throne thing? Inquiring minds want to know.

Bottom line: I like Zodac and this here is an excellent Zodac figure. Like with most MotU figures, it largely depends on whether you like the character or not. I do, so this figure is for me.
