Prelude: Yeah, I know. I always say that I don’t like Transformers that don’t transform. But just look at this cute little Seeker here! Isn’t he the cutest? Yes, yes he is! How can you not adore a cute little Seeker like this one here, even if he cannot transform? He’s so cute! Damn it, I fear Blokees is going to make me rethink my whole “don’t buy Transformers that don’t transform” thing. Man, this thing here’s cute!
Review: Let’s start by saying that this robot here is quite clearly Skywarp as we remember him from the G1 cartoon, apart from the proportions. He is part of Blokee’s Defender class of figures, the smallest they’re putting out, with a kind of Chibi styling, an oversized head on a small, chubby body. Despite only standing about half as tall as Blokee’s Galaxy Versions, they retain the same level of articulation, which is quite awesome, I must admit.
Like all Blokees figures, Skywarp is a model kit, so he comes in parts and needs to be put together. It takes about three minutes, I’d say, and isn’t really complicated. The instructions are on the back of the accompanying collectors card (see pictures below). Once assembled, you have a figure that is extremely well-articulated for its size, able to pull off all sorts of poses.
So bottom line: it’s Skywarp, just so much cuter than he’s ever been before. Small, awesome articulation, and full points for character recognition.
Remarks: I didn’t originally intend to get into the Defenders line on top of the few Galaxy Versions I have somehow accumulated. Then I saw someone on Amazon selling an entire 12-figure box set for a ridiculously low price. I figured, why not? Unsurprisingly only one figure arrived instead of twelve, but given the misleading description (it clearly stated “contains all 12 figures”), I was fully refunded, so I got this little guy here for free at the end of the day.
Skywarp will not be the start of a full-fledged Blokees Defenders collection for me (I hope so, at least), but he’s so very cute. So unless you are really opposed to his Chibi styling or simply don’t like non-transforming Transformers (just give it time, man!), this little guy here deserves some love from you.
