I was Thundercracker, all right? Or maybe an Insecticon. Who cares?
Series: Studio Series 86
Year: 2021
Allegiance: Decepticon
Class: Voyager

Prelude: Is he Thundercracker? Is he an Insecticon? Is he Skywarp? It really doesn’t matter, honestly, because now he is Scourge, Master of the dreaded Sweeps, and he is feared throughout the universe. Well, at least around Cybertron and Earth. Slightly feared. Anyway, Scourge is a loyal minion of Galvatron (most of the time) and sends his utterly disposable troops into battle against the Autobots. Here we have Studio Series 86 Scourge, who is an entirely different figure than the Studio Series 86 Sweep, just so you know. Let’s say go!

Many thanks to Jörg “the Carpenter” Zimmerman, who loaned me Scourge for this review.

Remarks: Forget what I wrote above, Studio Series 86 Scourge is almost entirely identical with Studio Series 86 Sweep, whom I reviewed earlier this year. So let’s just take a look at the differences.

… Well, there really aren’t that many, to be honest. Scourge is a slightly darker shade of blue and the hands are switched, meaning he’s got his open hand on the left instead of on the right. That’s it, really. Exact same figures otherwise. The Scourge in the picture gallery here also sports stickers, but those are from Toyhax and don’t come included. So… yeah, it’s the same figure, just darker and with switched hands.

This version of Scourge is mostly famous for taking ages to finally arrive on European toy shelves due to the container ship Ever Given blockading the Suez Canal in 2021 (still waiting for my Titan Class Ever Given, Hasbro!), leading to many European fans (including myself) buying Sweep as their Scourge instead. And honestly? It really does not make any discernible difference.

So bottom line: same conclusion as with Sweep. A very nice figure, faithfully depicting Scourge (or a Sweep) from the 1986 movie. The wings could look a bit more organic, but otherwise? Probably the best Scourge/Sweep outside of Third Party figures that cost three times as much or more.
