Series: Universe (2008)
Allegiance: Decepticon
Categories: Legends
Year: 2006
Prelude: In Transformers Cybertron we had a Thundercracker that – blasphemously – was not a repaint of Starscream. In order to correct this grievous misdeed, the Transformers Universe line of 2008 decided to make amends and reset the cosmic balance by giving us a repaint of said Thundercracker figure as, you guessed it, Starscream. Thus order was restored throughout the multiverse and we can safely say: let’s say go!
Remarks: As mentioned above, Starscream here is a repaint of Cybertron Thundercracker (Legends). Seeing as I reviewed Thundercracker roughly half a year ago, there isn’t really much I can write here that I haven’t already written in that other review. So go and read that other review now and then come back here to look at the changes.
Done? Good, moving on then.
Starscream is the exact same figure as Thundercracker with no engineering changes, just a new coat of paint. He has Starscream’s trademark grey coloring with red and blue highlights and the orange-colored cockpit on his chest. He still has Thundercracker’s big gun on his left arm and transforms into the same kind of jet, a Sukhoi Su-37. And really, that’s it. Same figure, just different colors.
The 2008 Universe line was not bolstered by any sort of media, so there is no particular story behind this version of Starscream, either. It is the first Hasbro Legends-Class figure modelled after the G1 iteration of Starscream, so there is that, but otherwise there is nothing that makes this figure stand out much.
