Review: He-Man as he appeared in the Filmation cartoon never changed his on-screen look, no matter how many different toy versions of him were included in the vintage toy line. Come the 200X cartoon, though, quite a few different toy versions of He-Man (and Skeletor) actually made on-screen appearances. Most of them were just one-episode appearances, but in the second season He-Man adopted a permanent new look in order to battle the Snake-Men. Of course, the series was cancelled after its second season. Whether or not that has any connection to the new look is, of course, pure speculation.
I never owned the 200X version of this figure, so I can only judge the resemblance to the cartoon appearance. While Snake Armor He-Man still very much looks like vintage He-Man in terms of the head and build, the armor is clearly the one from the 200X cartoon’s second season. The figure also comes with the 200X version of the Power Sword and the claw attachment that slots into the gauntlet on He-Man’s right hand. He-Man can store either the claw or the sword on his back, too. He has the vastly improved range of motion of the Origins line and overall? He just looks great.
While I grew up with the original vintage He-Man, the 200X cartoon has a special place in my heart and it’s nice to see this version of He-Man again. I bought this figure at clearance from a local toy store for 5 Euros, but I wouldn’t be upset had I paid more, either. A very nice figure for fans of the 200X version of He-Man.
