A natural leader with a lot yet to learn, Hot Shot often races straight into danger at top speed. He takes great pride in the fact that he's the fastest Autobot there is, but it isn't until he gets to the Speed Planet that he learns the true meaning of velocity. Faced by the almost unbeatable Override, Hot Shot needs to learn a whole new way of thinking about acceleration before he can win the Great Race.

Robot Mode: A bulky yet sleek robot, Hot Shot is a striking figure in robot mode, especially when he uses his cyber key to unfold his accel wings in this mode, too. They are very reminiscent of Hot Rod's spoiler from the G1 days. His posability could be better, as his thick forearms and the car top on his back restrict him a bit, but that's pretty much his only flaw. A nicely-sculpted robot mode with few complaints.

Alternate Mode: Hot Shot transforms into a sports car and does an excellent job of it. The car looks rather realistic, very sleek, and the flip-out accel wings activated by the cyber key are a very nice touch. Again a very nicely detailed mode with pretty much zero complaints here.

Remarks: The best Transformers toys usually hail from the Deluxe-class and Hot Shot is no exception. He does have some problems in terms of posability, but they are minor and barely diminish a great figure. The Japanese market saw a red variant of this toy and I would have loved to have that one, but it was very expensive. Doesn't matter much, the blue original looks cool as well in both modes and makes for one of the better Cybertron toys and definitely one of the best Hot Shot figures to date.
