My power is everything; defeat is absurd!
Galvatron is a cold-hearted robotic villain. Determined to lead the Decepticons. Possesses enough strength to pulverize an Autobot into scrap metal. Unconquerable. Arrogant and compassionless. Plots against his allies, thus weakening his position. In robot mode, he carries a laser that emits chemically-produced, direct-current electricity.

Robot Mode: Galvatron is one of the larger G1 robots, standing as tall as Jetfire or Powermaster Optimus Prime. His appearance is close to the one from the Movie and third season of the cartoon, though a lot less streamlined. Still, one of the better likenesses, even if I'd have gone for another colour for his huge cannon. He is also quite posable for a G1 toy (see second picture). The only real drawback are the very small forearms. My version of the toy has seen better days and some of the stickers are loose, but apart from that he's looking quite well for his age. Another minor complaint is that Galvatron is too large to compete with his cartoon nemesis Rodimus Prime, but he is of perfect size to match him against Powermaster Optimus Prime.

Alternate Mode: There is no polite way to say this: Galvatron's alternate modes suck. They didn't look good in the movie and series and the toy versions look even worse. The first, a kind of tank or maybe mobile gun turret, does absolutely nothing for me. The second, a handgun mode that was never seen on TV, is completely useless except maybe to some small kids wanting to play Cowboy and having nothing better at hand. The only worse handgun mode I've ever seen is Quickswitch. Leave Galvatron in robot mode. You'll be better off that way, believe me.

Missing Parts: Galvatron came with a small rifle, which I'm missing (the one in the pics is borrowed from G1 ReIssue Galvatron). Since he never used it on TV and doesn't really need it I'm not too upset about that.

Remarks: I never much liked Galvatron as a character. Okay, Megatron's transformation into him is one of the most pivotal events in Transformers history, but still ... I don't like him. A raving madman who should have pulverized Rodimus Prime and other Autobots a hundred times due to his superior powers, but always messed up. Why the Decepticons followed him I'll never know.

The only Galvatron I liked was the one depicted in the Marvel UK comic series. There Galvatron was sane (at least at first), more powerful than any other Transformer, and regularly caused carnage like no other. That's the reason I got this toy, pure and simple.
