It's long been an accepted piece of wisdom on Velocitron that you can't teach an old racer new tricks, but that was before the Autobots came to the Speed Planet. With the help of Coby and the intelligent application of some Earth technology, including dual superchargers, intercooled Energon exhaust ports and a diamond-sharp edge to his racing sabre, Brakedown is feeling a thousand years younger. Yes sir, this old speed demon is back on the track!

Robot Mode: In robot mode Brakedown is a clear homage to the Generation 1 Autobot veteran Kup, right down to the placing of his red and yellow details, which mirror the placing of Kup's stickers. He is also a very posable robot with a nice look and really nice colours, standing on his own even without the homage. His forearms are a bit too short for my taste and the weapon looks a bit crooked, but those are the only things I can find to complain about. A very nice robot mode.

Alternate Mode: Brakedown's vehicle mode is clearly a racing machine, though I'm not sure how closely it might mirror any existing racer. Doesn't matter. The detailing is good, the racer looks nice, and there is nothing to complain about here. The Cyberkey gimmick looks better here than in robot mode, the blade flipping out in front ready to clear the road of slow-poke Decepticons.

Remarks: The original Brakedown of the Cybertron line was already a close match to G1 Kup character-wise, being an old veteran past his prime, but aiding the younger Autobots in their battles. With this recolour he now shows it, too. But Brakedown is a very nice figure in his own right and IMO looks better in these colours than the original ones. His vehicle mode is a little strange, but nothing to complain about. Recommended to every Transformers fan.
