Big Daddy is more concerned with his paint job than with any war that might be going on. You'll most often find him cruising the main drag of whatever town he ends up in, or hanging out at the local beach. When he does roll out, he does it slow, so that all the pedestrians can get a nice, long look at his sleek lines and killer chrome. He's got his own crew of robots to roll with. They stay out of the way of the rest of the Autobots, and the Autobots stay out of theirs.

Remarks: Big Daddy is a repaint of Cybertron Downshift, so see the full review there. Just a few words on the differences. The Downshift mold was a nice choice for Big Daddy. Not only because it's a pretty awesome figure in its own right, but also because the vehicle mode actually bears a lot of resemblence to that of the original Big Daddy, the G1 Micromaster. The robot mode is a lot different, of course, but the colours are a near-perfect match, too, so props for that one. Besides, the Downshift mold is just great, did I mention that? And the black-with-flames design for its vehicle mode is looking mighty fine. I could have done without the purple on Big Daddy's face, it doesn't quite fit with the rest of him, but again, those are the original colours, so no complaint there.

Speaking of the original Big Daddy... well, there isn't much to speak of, really. He appeared in the rather boring Micromaster comic book from Dreamwave, that's pretty much it. Apart from his name, there was little to distinguish him from the dozens of other Micromasters. Movie Big Daddy, who doesn't even have a comic book appearance to his name, is one of several repainted Transformers brought out in the Movie line as store exclusives. There is probably some story behind the fact that the Hasbro deco artist responsible for store exclusives is named Joe "Big Daddy" Kyde, but I haven't done much research into it. Anyway, a superb figure, a killer paint job, and one of the coolest names in the Transfomers franchise. What's not to like?
