Series: Beast Wars II
Allegiance: Destron
Function: New Emperor of Destruction
Year: 1998

An evil emperor who plots to rule the universe, Galvatron is ambitious, yet shows unexpected affection for his underlings. He is often put to sleep by the Cybertrons' activities or schemes, but when he wakes, he is the mightiest being of all. Of his three forms, his dragon mode's power far surpasses that of Lioconvoy. He has a habit of talking in his sleep.

Robot Mode: The colour combination of Galvatron strikes me a bit ... well, effeminate, what with its pale pink and purple. The rest of his look is anything but, though, as he looks tough and dangerous. He is extremely posable and comes with multiple armaments, such as the gatling guns on his knees, the blades he can wear on his eblows or carry in his hands, and the huge pincer gun he can deploy from his back or again carry in his hand. The very manga-looking chest, shoulders, and head, as well as the huge golden drill hanging off his back are slight points against him, but overall Galvatron is a great-looking robot.

Alternate Modes: Galvatron is a triple changer. His first alternate mode is a drill tank, though I use the work tank loosely. Basically a huge golden drill with a slightly phallic look on tank threads, the vehicle looks a bit like something from a 50s Science Fiction serial. Still, I find myself kinda liking it. Not really sure why. His second alternate mode is a dragon. This beast mode looks pretty good, especially the long and fully posable neck. Some flaws here, too, though. The halves of the drill hanging off its neck look out of place and the dragon's thighs (really the tank threads) are much thicker than the rest of his legs, giving him 'thunder thighs'. Still, in my opinion the dragon is the better of his two alternate modes.

Remarks: Beast Wars II was a Japanese exclusive cartoon series. To my limited knowledge it was not so much a sequel to Beast Wars, but rather a mixture of Beast Wars and G1 themes. Anyway, the toys produced for it are not widely known outside Japan and when I first saw Galvatron on Ebay I was at a loss. I bought him anyway, as I kinda liked his look, especially in robot mode. I wouldn't go so far as to recommend him to anyone. You have to like the manga-look at least a little bit.
