We serve and protect
Autotroopers are the rank and file of the Cybertron Defense Police Command. In times of war they can be brought directly under the auspices of the office of the Magnus. Once selected for service, an Autobot goes through a remolding process into a uniform trooper shell, an antebellum model built for endurance and reliability, created by specialist Fisitron. Long megacycles of training make them a potent force against those on the wrong side of the law.

Remarks: The Autotroopers were available exclusively at the 2011 Botcon event in three-packs and are repaints (with a new head) of the same mold used for Animated Armorhide / Ironhide and Cybertron-Mode Ratchet, both of whom already have reviews here on TFU. So just a few words on the differences here.

The Autotroopers’ paint job is clearly meant to invoke the image of (American) police cars with their black and white look, both in robot and vehicle mode. This image is furthered by the new head mold as well, which looks somewhat like a motorcycle helmet with goggles and makes for a rather anonymous, uniform look. The look as a whole is a semi-homage to G1 Prowl, though mostly in the sense that they are both police. The Autotroopers have a special version of the Autobot symbol, making it look very much like an American police badge.

Not much else to tell, though. The figure is basically the same otherwise, having the same weapons and everything. I like the new head mold and the general idea of Cybertron having its own police force in Animated, so these guys were definitely for me (plus, I’m an Animated fanatic). Not sure I’ll keep all three of them, though. Anyway, Botcon exclusives have the habit to be expensive, so you need to figure out whether you want to dish out the necessary cash for these guys, but overall I can only say: very nice Transformers. Recommended.
