Scorponok is barely what the other Transformers would even call alive. His core programming is only a tiny bit more complex than pure instinct. In most things, he acts almost entirely as an animal. He never speaks, and lives only to hunt and destroy. Unlike most of his fellow robots, he prefers his alternate mode with its energized stinger and drill-claws, to his robot mode. Capable of burrowing through solid earth at nearly eighty miles per hour, he can be a terrifying opponent as he springs suddenly upon his target in a shower of dirt from the ground.

Robot Mode: Possibly the worst robot mode of the Movie line so far (unless you count the Burger King toys). Scorponok's robot mode is simply his scorpion mode standing up. That's that. Short, stumpy legs unfold from his sides and he stands. This also causes the wheels from his scorpion mode to feature prominently on his chest. I could go on and on, but let's leave it with a piece of advice: Leave him in beast mode.

Beast Mode: Scorponok's beast mode looks pretty cool. A mechanoid scorpion with big, rotating claws on one end and a multi-jointed tail with an extendable stinger on the other. The head looks pretty good, too. Rolling the scorpion over the floor causes the claws in front to rotate. The legs on the side are pretty much for show, but they look okay. Sadly the stinger missile doesn't detach, just extend, but that doesn't detract from a pretty good beast mode.

Remarks: At this moment in time, with the Movie still weeks away from being shown, Scorponok might just be the most well-known Movie Transformer of them all, seeing as most of the trailers and teasers featured him bursting out of the ground and attacking some soldiers. That said, Scorponok is far from the best figure of the line. I wouldn't go so far as to call him the worst, but he's pretty far down the list. The scorpion mode is good, but the lackluster robot mode drags him down quite a bit and for some reason I just don't like his look. If you have to have him, leave him in scorpion mode.
